Toms is based in Los Angeles and was founded in 2006. The founder, Blake Mycoskie, decided to develop a type of alpargata (popular in Argentina) for the North American market, with the goal of providing a new pair of shoes to the youth of Argentina and other developing nations for every show sold.
Today, Toms sells a range of shoes, eyewear and apparel and the range has expanded from the original classic alpargatas to include slip ons, sneakers and sandals. And for every pair sold another pair is given through its 'one for one' program.
